Canton Balloon Fest
2006 is over!
The City of Canton Parks and Recreation, Mid-Mississippi Balloon Association and The Good Samaritan Center want to thank all pilots, crew, sponsors and all event visitors for a fun and successful Balloon Fest 2006. We hope to see all of you again next year. Please enjoy a few pictures and comments from this years events and flights.

Media and Sponsor Party .
Thursday night was the Media & Sponsor Party at the Old Trolio Hotel at the square in Canton.
Canton's own Joe McKay put up his balloon on Union Street outside the hotel. Good music, good food and good company for all. More photos from the party!
Media Flight
Friday Morning was the media flight. Pilot Taylor Aldous flew Clear Channel's Skyla Dawn in the Re/Max Balloon.

Friday Night
The balloon glow at North Park Mall's Fourth of July celebration was the official start of the Balloon Fest.
Saturday Morning
The objective for the first competition flight was to drop a bean bag on a target by the Canton Multipurpose building.
The new Good Samaritan balloon banner was flown for the first time by Tim Slattery. Photos Saturday Morning!
Saturday Night
The Balloon Fest at Canton Multi Purpose Building started with music by The Fabulous Earth Angels.
The Balloon pilots attempted to fly in to the field and grab the "key" off a flag pole. Pilot
Alan Howland of Zachary, LA was right on target!

The Balloons then set up for a balloon glow and the public was invited to get close up and personal with the balloons on the field.
Festival food and a children's area made this a perfect family event.
A spectacular fireworks display ended the night.

Sunday Morning
The Sunday competition was a hound and hare chase. Bob McGuire led the field in a chase over the city of Canton. Photos Sunday Morning
So Who Won the Mississippi Hot Air Balloon Championship?
The Winner with the best combined score of the three competetive flights was Alan Howland from Zachary, LA (right in picture).
